Heavenly Herbs
Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May, 10am - 5pm
A brand new event from Capel Manor focusing on the growing trend of useful plants with demonstrations on request to show you how to pot and grow unusual herbs including moisture loving herbs such as mints or dry herbs.
The Witches Fairytale will be there allowing you to sample their potions and hear their tales of herbal folklore. Don’t be deceived by the costumes and cackles, these trained professionals will wow you with their infectious knowledge of herbs. Plus, their potion sampling will give you the chance to try out herbal medicines raising your awareness of alternate choices when it comes to matters of health and ill health.
Over the weekend you’ll be able to purchase tomato and pepper plants, home-grown herbs plus other interesting plants. Garden walks will be taking place at 1pm on both days with Saturday’s general tour looking at herbs within the grounds and Sunday looking specifically at medicinal herbs. Children’s Herbal I-spy will keep your kids entertained and if they complete the challenge they’ll receive a Capel giveaway. The Terrace Restaurant will be open for your regular cup of tea or herbal options for those wanting to try something new.
Grow your own Pumpkin – you can also sow your own Pumpkin seeds and take it away but bring it back for the Halloween Howler in October and we’ll give a prize for the biggest pumpkin!
