10am–10.30am Arrival and welcome with tea/coffee and biscuits.
10.30–11.30am The History of Roses and the Different Types (Powerpoint presentation).
11.30am–12.00noon Looking at Old Roses – fresh blooms brought by Charles Quest-Ritson and Peter Scott. Members are welcome to bring roses for identification or discussion.
12.00noon–1pm Garden walk. Capel Manor has a splendid collection of old roses particularly in the Old Manor House Garden and Walled Garden.
1pm–2pm Break for light lunch in the Terrace Restaurant.
2pm–2.30pm Re-assemble. Buying, Propagating and Pruning Old Roses; Pests and Diseases (Powerpoint presentation).
2.30pm–3pm Discussion – Questions and Answers.
3pm–3.30pm Learning More about Old Roses – where to see them, books to read and websites to search (Powerpoint presentation).
3.30pm End of study day. Tea and informal discussion. Charles Quest-Ritson hopes to be able to bring some young plants in pots to give away – one for each attendee
Cost £35.00 per person. Cheques made payable to Capel Manor College.
