Heavy horse competitions and demonstrations
Join us for our Heavy Horse and Country Show which promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family! This exciting annual event is steeped in history and a wonderful opportunity to see the gentle giants of the horse world in action.
This event is a unique chance to get up close to the impressive Heavy Horse breeds and see their presentation, handling and working – a fascinating fun day for adults and children alike! There will be a full timetable of shows and competitions, Heavy Horse competition winners, prizes and farrier demonstrations with specialist advice.
The Horse Show programme will run between 10.30am to 3.30pm. Please be aware that last admission is at 3pm and our Gardens close at 5pm.

Horse Show Programme and Classes
The Horse Show programme will run between 10.30am to 3.30pm. Please be aware that last admission is at 3pm and our Gardens close at 5pm. We suggest arriving early to make the most of your day.
Up to 10.30am – Preparation of horses
10.30am – Heavy horses in hand (judged), including young stock (best foot and best shod)
12.30pm – Novice handler
12.45pm – Ridden class (judged)
1.30pm – Fun dog show
2.30pm – Harness class (decorated and trade harness)
3.15pm – Horse drawn vehicles and agricultural implements
3.30pm – Grand parade and presentation of rosettes
